Plot – The movie opens with the morning routine of a chawl with Mahadev caring for his ailing mother and in some sense you are introduced to his world of extreme poverty. Along side this, he is in love with Gayatri, his neighbour and the two plan to marry at some stage.
Mohan Boseman is an extremely wealthy man who loses a court case and ends up losing his properties and wealth. You also learn that his family dies in a tragic plane crash and he loses his mother too to a heart attack. He is desperate as he is slowly losing every known possession of his. Leading him to plan to leave this world once and for all.
Enter Mangu, a small time pickpocket who crosses paths with Mahadev and Mohan and the three of them end up embroiled in a hide and seek situation, while each of them is trying desperately to reach their ultimate goals.
Does Mahadev manage to rise above his circumstances, does Mohan get justice after all the losses he suffers and does Mangu get the lesson of a lifetime in this cat and mouse game?
To know this, watch Gandhi Talks! It is a brilliantly made silent movie! Every frame is delightful to watch and each actor emotes so beautifully! There is no speaking and every thing is conveyed through their eyes and acting! The cinematography and the art department outdid themselves! Every frame tells a story and adds the depth and the dimension to the story!
A piece of advice, please don’t look away at any point. There is a lot that is happening on the screen and each detail adds to the plot.
After Pushpaka Vimana, this is a brilliant movie that engages the audience with its visuals and music! Movie making, especially for silent movies needs a lot of visual artistry which the director and his art department carry off very well!
